Potlatch After School Mentoring (CCE TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED)
Organizational Information: The Potlatch Landing Community Center provides a place where adults and youth can come together to create mentorship opportunities. The center is a walk-in recreational center that strives to meet and exceed the social, recreational and cultural needs of its teens and community members. The center has created a safe, alcohol and drug free space that is desired in any community and provides youth a place that they are safe and have the opportunity to be.
Opportunity Description: The purpose of this project is to help the teens of Potlatch learn simple life skills they may/or may not know. The participants will be able to help educate this teens on concepts such as: cooking, sewing, doing laundry etc. Another project idea is for the teens to create a community garden. This project will entitle the volunteers to be passionate, patient and willing to come back the following week.
Ages of Children/Youth: Students should be aware that they will be working with students ages 7th grade - 12 grade
Days/Times: Monday's from 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Location: CCE transportation is provided. Please meet in the CCE Student Resource Center located in the CUB Lower Level L45 at 2:15 PM to meet with your group. We plan to return to campus around 6:30 PM.
Requirements: Service hours are allocated based on amount of direct service participation and do not include meeting time and transportation to/from the service site. Students can expect to receive 3 hours for service.Please dress appropriately for working with young teenagers.
