Event Reminder: State FFA Officer Screening - 2019

REMINDER: Registration for State FFA Officer Screening closes on March 31st. If you have a student who sent in a State Officer application but is no longer planning to participate please email Hannah.Cantrell@flaffa.org ASAP so that we can finalize the schedule of events.
This information is intended for advisors who have FFA members that have applied for state office this year.
We are looking forward to your participation at State Officer Screening on April 9-10, 2019 at the FFA Leadership Training Center (LTC) in Haines City. In order, to register for State Officer Screening, your advisor must register you and your guest(s) online using the normal conference registration process (link can be found at the bottom of this email). Registration must be completed NO LATER than March 31.
Please note that only those FFA members who are graduating seniors, that have submitted the State Officer Candidate Application, and who have earned, or are eligible to earn the State FFA Degree are permitted to participate in the State Officer Candidate Screening Process.
Please remember that the advisor attendance policy is in effect and all students must be accompanied by a school board representative or advisor. In the event, that the designated representative is not the FFA advisor, please bring a letter of designation from the school principal or superintendent. If your designated school district representative is another FFA advisor from your county, it is imperative that all parties are aware before arriving.
Prices for the event are as follows. Please bring payment with you to screening.
- Candidate (Quad Occupancy with other candidates): $60.00
- Adult (Double Occupancy): $85.00
- Adult (Single Occupancy): $110.00
Check-in will begin at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, with instructions beginning promptly at 8:30 AM. All candidates are required to stay onsite at the LTC throughout the screening process. As you might imagine, official dress is required. A complete schedule along with group assignments will be made available at check-in. The process should conclude around 2:30 PM on Wednesday with results tentatively scheduled to be announced at 4:00 PM.
If you need any additional nights of lodging, you will need to secure those directly with the LTC. Please do so by March 31st.

- Written Exam
- Writing Exercise
- State Degree Interview
- Agriculture Knowledge Interview
- Personal Interview
- Advocacy Stand and Deliver
- Conversational Exercise
As a part of the Individual Interview, please have your student prepared to begin with a prepared introduction up to one minute in length. A candidate handbook and other resources are available on the Florida FFA website.
