Florida FFA Gives Back: Disaster Relief Effort

Aug 31, 2017 by Ronnie Simmons

FFA Members, Advisors & Stakeholders,

In recent days, our friends in Texas and Louisiana have experienced the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.  This significant weather event has caused damage and flooding to homes, farms, schools, roads, businesses, roads and cities.  In true Blue & Gold spirit, FFA members throughout Florida and across the country have asked how they can help FFA chapters and agricultural education programs that have been affected.

Our friends at Texas FFA are working hard to coordinate a disaster relief effort.  You can find out more about their effort at:

Here are three specific ways that you can help:

  • If you wish to make a financial contribution online, you can do that by clicking here or visiting:
  • If you wish to make a financial contribution by check or money order, you can send it to:

Texas FFA Foundation
Attn:  A New Day Crisis Fund
614 E. 12th Street
Austin, TX 78701

Please make checks payable to Texas FFA Foundation and write "A New Day Crisis Fund" in the memo section of the check or money order.  Donations are tax deductible.

  • Florida FFA will be coordinating a Gift Card Drive to benefit those FFA Chapters in need.  The gift card drive will remain active through the Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) conferences in late September.  We encourage your chapters to participate by collecting various gift cards that will be distributed to FFA chapters and families in need.  While all gift cards will be accepted, we encourage you to collect gift cards for national chain retailers such as Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc.  You might also consider Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards that can be used at any location.  Gift cards will be collected during registration at each of the six COLT conferences.

This is our chance to show the country and the world how much we care about our Agricultural Education and FFA family across the country.

On behalf of Florida FFA, we thank you for your support and generosity in this effort.
