Kevin W. Kent - A Decade of Living the Blue Jacket Dream
Aug 4, 2017 by Ronnie Simmons
Dear Board Members, FFA Advisors & Stakeholders,
It is with mixed emotions that we say farewell to our friend and colleague, Kevin Kent as today marks his last day working with us at Florida FFA.
Kevin joined the Florida FFA staff in 2006 where he began his career as an intern and later as an Education Specialist focusing on branding, marketing and communication, as he worked on his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Communication at the University of Florida. Upon graduating, Kevin was promoted to his current position as Assistant Director of the Florida FFA Association, while also maintaining his focus on branding, marketing and strategic communications, for Florida FFA and many of our stakeholder partners. While at FFA, Kevin continued his education and earned his Master’s Degree in Media Design from Full Sail University. Kevin will begin his role as a fulltime student working on his PhD at the University of Florida, later this month.
While we are excited for this next chapter in Kevin’s life, his everyday presence will be greatly missed by all of us in the blue and gold family. As everyone knows, Kevin has a gift for crafting stunning graphics, meaningful communications, and producing media that has pushed Florida FFA to become the premier state FFA Association in the country.
Personally, I’ve come to depend on Kevin as my sounding board and for his unique perspective on FFA, and life itself. As a colleague, Kevin has stood by my side for every big decision, offered advice at each crossroad, and encouraged me when I needed it the most. Several years ago, our everyday phrase around the office became "living the blue jacket dream". Today, I can honestly say that it has been a true honor to work alongside Kevin for the past decade - an honor that I never deserved.
I (we) will miss him a great deal. But, while I hate to say goodbye, I am sincerely pleased that Kevin will soon be in a position to share his talents with other young people who will be able to contribute to this organization and the industry of agriculture, in the same way he has.
While we will all miss Kevin’s presence with us every day, I have asked him if he is willing to continue with some work on behalf of FFA, and he has indicated an interest in doing so. For that, I am pleased as I will welcome his help with some specific projects in the coming months and beyond.
Our staff and board of directors will be working to identify how best to handle this, and other staffing needs, for the future of our organization.
Please join me in congratulating Kevin Kent on his decade of service to FFA and agricultural education and best wishes for great success along his journey. We wish Kevin much happiness, great success and prosperity in the coming years!
