FFA Capitol Day
FFA Capitol Day has been scheduled for May 1, 2017. Registration and more detailed information will be available later this week. Please begin your efforts now to schedule visits with your legislators. Because of the lateness of this date, these visits will only be of educational value for your students and not intended to discuss the Next Generation Agricultural Education bills or the Specialty License Plate legislation. Contact your legislator NOW to talk about these efforts.
Award Application Deadlines
The April 1 application deadline is quickly approaching. The following applications are due on April 1:
- Alumni Award Applications
- Chapter Co-Op Award
- Chapter Agriculture Advocacy Award
- National Chapter Award
- Proficiency Award
- Outstanding District Officer Award
Please note that these applications must be received by Florida FFA by the close of business on April 8th. If you have a team participating in the State HS Livestock Evaluation CDE or in the State Poultry Evaluation CDE you may bring your application to the event to be turned in.
Convention Volunteer Opportunities
Last week we opened convention registration. Additionally, applications for Courtesy Corps and Talent were also made available for FFA members to begin submitting. Visit the Convention Volunteer Opportunities page for more information. Courtesy Corps and Talent applications are due April 15.
Florida FFA Foundation Hosts Successful 14th Annual Beast Feast and Future Farmer Classic
On behalf of the Florida FFA Foundation, we would like to send a special THANK YOU to those chapters who helped to make the 14th Annual Beast Feast and Future Farmer Classic a huge success! Whether it was providing a food booth, volunteers or auction items, Florida FFA came together to make the event one of the best yet. If you were unable to attend this year, we hope you will make plans to attend the 2018 event. The date will be released in the coming weeks.
Florida FFA Foundation Dues
When registering your chapter for the State FFA Convention, you will see an option to pay your yearly Foundation Dues. The current dues amount is $30.00 per chapter. We hope your chapter will consider this small gift to the foundation which will help with the operational costs of the Leadership Training Center and help provide funding to awards and programs offered by Florida FFA. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Michael.Rogalsky@flaffa.org.
