  • a vision of world where women live safely and freely.
  • the belief that rape, incest, battery, genital mutilation and sexual slavery must end now.
  • the belief that women should spend their lives creating and thriving rather than surviving or recovering from terrible atrocities.
  • the unification and strengthening of existing anti-violence efforts, the triggering of far-reaching awareness, and the groundwork for new educational, protective, and legislative endeavors throughout the world.

Portal Information

According to the United Nations, 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime

V-Day is a global activist movement to end gender-based violence. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women, girls, and trans* individuals, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.

Through V-Day Lafayette's campaign, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues; A Memory, A Monologue and A Rant and A Prayer. V-Day also stages benefits, produces innovative gatherings, films and campaigns to educate and change social attitudes towards violence against women, and participates in ONE BILLION RISING, the largest call to action of people across the world to strike, dance, and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.
