The idea of Makers Club is simple. We want to provide access to the tools you need to get your idea off the ground. If you like building, tinkering, hacking, art, fabricating, design, or just have an idea for something you want to try, then you are in the right place. To get started join Makers Club on Orgsync for updates on events and projects.

Portal Information

Description

The Makers Club provides students with a platform to innovate and learn by building.

After Safety training is completed on Isidore, the student must also complete in shop training. Members are encouraged to engage in personal, curricula affiliated, or service projects.

1. Join the Makers Club on orgsync

2. Once the safety tab is available on isidore (within a few days of joining) one must complete the safety training for the work they plan to do. It is encouraged to complete all sections.

3. After training is complete, the new members can attend a design and build meeting, or open hours to get a run through of the space.

4. After attending a meeting access can be granted.

Personal projects must be funded by the student.

However, any build that remains within the club (ex. workbench;cnc machine;vacuumform table; jigs/rigs), and provides a learning experience for the club members involved, can be funded through outside sources: SGA special interest, or the ETHOS program. [Funding Details in Files --> Funding].

Design and Build Meetings are posted as events through orgsync. If you wish to undertake any project that does not qualify as a personal project, come discuss the build at these design meetings to be guided on the path to acquiring the necessary funds and making your idea a reality!

The Makers Club has developed relationships with local makerspaces, be sure to check out their websites for upcoming classes and events! [Files --> Local Makerspaces]
