In the fall of 1883, five women at Cornell University applied to Kappa Kappa Gamma for a charter and became Psi chapter three weeks later. They joined a strong and successfel Greek system which was stated by a Psi historian to be "deeply inbedded in Cornell, both for men and women." In 1921, the chapter raised enough funds to buy a house at 508 Thurston Avenue which is still the same location of the sorority house today.
