Service Project Blender

We are having a blender to promote the service project of a clothing drive that we are doing from November 17th-December 15th. We are partnering with Big Brother Big Sister to help kids and their families this winter. Some essential items include coats, pants, socks anything winter. Thank you for the support. We are having two blenders one on the 7th of December and the other 11th of December both at 9:30am- noon.

We will be having two blenders to help promote our giving back to the community service project involving a clothing drive. Our drive starts on November 17th- December 15th. Rocky Horror Picture Show

The LGBT Resource center, Multicultural & Inclusion Center and LGBTSA will be doing a screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. We will hold a panel about transgender terms, how they are expressed in the movie and how they have evolved over time. We will be serving popcorn and drinks.

Art Reception: Art from "Left of Center" Gallery and Read-In

We will be hosting "Left of Center", an art gallery from North Las Vegas. This is a gallery where students will get to experience various pieces from black artist. Left of Center Art Gallery and Studio is a non-profit art gallery with extensive exhibition schedule and workshops, celebrating ethnic and cultural diversity.

Open Mic Night & Art Show

The Multicultural Inclusion Center and NASA is pleased to announce our first Open Mic Night of the semester. Native American Heritage Month is in full swing so come and enjoy the performances from your fellow students. Come and play the piano, sing, dance, read some slam poetry, freestyle rap or just sit down and play a song on your guitar.

Miss Native Dixie Pageant

The evening's festivities will include traditional modeling, modern and traditional performances by the contestants. Multicultural Inclusion Fashion Show

The 3rd annual Multicultural Inclusion Fashion Showcase is an event encouraging cultural diversity and awareness. It includes a cultural showcase of upbeat, high-energy performances representing several continents of the world and an international fashion show featuring attire and music from various countries. The show will feature models wearing attire from around the world, as well as fashions from student designers. Students will perform throughout the show.

Movie Night

We will be watching McFarland, USA. It is a story of Jim White (Kevin Costner) moves his family after losing his last job as a football coach. He sees that some of the students are worth starting a cross-country team and turns seven students with no hope into one of the best cross-country teams. Based on the true story of a 1978 cross country for a mainly Latino community and High School in California. Watch the trailer here

We will be having a Bonfire in the Amphitheatre by the fountain. We will be roasting marshmallows, viewing art, having an art contest and giveaways. This event will end with Breaking a Pinata. Come and enjoy the start of cool fall weather with S'mores and Art.

Diversity Week Game Day- Loteria

Rebels Forever Memory Garden (outside Browning)

Come and help us celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Loteria! Loteria is similar to bingo using images instead of plain numbers. This fast paced game ends when your card is covered in  a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row and then someone  shouts "Lotería!"

Salsa and Salsa Dance Night

Come learn how to Salsa, Tango,  Meringue, and other Latin dances at the kick off for Hispanic Heritage month! There will dance lessons followed by a dance contest with prizes for the winners plus raffle prizes! There will also be Horchata drinks and delicious Chips and Salsa! Bring your friends! Located in the Gardner Ballroom, lessons being at 7:30 pm on Thursday September 15th.

Hula Workshop

The Multicultural/Diversity Center is hosting a hula workshop in honor of Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage month.  We will be having an event on the lawn north of the Gardner center with members of DSU's Pacific Islander Student Association and students from the Multicultural/Diversity Center.  Please come and join us to learn and experience a little bit of the Pacific Islander cultures.

MCDC Lei Making Workshop

To continue our celebration of Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage month we will be having a Lei making workshop in preparation of the Luau and graduation.  Join us on the Gardner Patio and learn how to make a candy lei to get pumped up for the cultural showcase being put on by PISA later on that week.  We look forward to teaching you how to celebrate like the pacific islanders do and learn a new skill to use for all your friends who are graduating from Dixie State!

Taste Around the World is an annual event sponsored by the Multicultural/Diversity Center in which students, staff, and faculty are able to share their culture by preparing and sharing dishes from their home country and/or culture.  This is the MCDC's most popular event and it is one you don't wanna miss!! Multicultural/Diversity Week Kick Off!!!!
