Welcome to the Melbourne Barbell Club!

The Melbourne Barbell Club was formed in 2016. It is a club that consists of a group of people who all share a love for strength sports. We are all about building a community of people who want to get strong but at the same time do this in a fun environment with a good group of people. 

A barbell club is a club that is created based on a barbell and all the movements that you can do with it. Our current focus has been around powerlifting and weightlifting. Powerlifting is a sport which consists of testing the maximum weight that you can lift in three movements being the squat, bench press and deadlift whilst weightlifting is a sport which consists of testing the maximum weight that you can lift in two movements being the snatch and clean and jerk.

The club caters for all genders and abilities from beginners to an elite level. We run our own social testing days and club members are invited to set goals to compete in competitions which we can assist in preparing them for.

Days: Wednesdays & Fridays 2.30pm

Location: The Richmond Gym (4/474 Victoria Street, Richmond, VIC, 3121)


Club Membership

We offer a memberships which is open to ACU students and staff, as well as members of the wider community.

Cost: $100 per semester for students and $120 per semester for non-students which includes access to all training sessions.
