FRESNO STATE -- The Associated Students, Inc. Personnel Committee will hear comments from the public Thursday, March 17, as part of a review of the ASI’s three executive officers that was authorized by the ASI Senate last month.
The Personnel Committee’s public meeting is at 9 a.m. in University Student Union Room 309.
The Senate voted Feb. 23 to have the committee conduct reviews on ASI President Pedro Ramirez, Executive Vice President Selena Farnesi and Vice President of Finance Cesar Sanchez.
Ramirez and Sanchez are under review to determine if they violated the ASI Code of Conduct and Farnesi to determine if her actions breached the Gloria-Romero Act regarding public meetings.
The committee developed a two-part process. In addition to hearing public comments, the committee also created ad-hoc groups to conduct individual interviews with the ASI advisor, ASI employees and the three officers, which are expected to be completed by March 18.
The ASI Personnel Committee expects to hold another public meeting early next week to vote on its recommendations to formally present at the next regularly scheduled ASI Senate meeting March 23.
UPDATE: Also at its Feb 23 meeting, the ASI Senate voted to authorize expenditures up to $5,000 for its legal counsel to conduct a thorough review of the ASI bylaws to ensure consistency with the Corporation Code and congruency throughout. The bylaw review is in progress with an update expected in the next few weeks.
