A New Beginning for a Better Emory: A Message from your GSGA President
Apr 4, 2017 by Jared Greenbaum
Dear Emory Graduate Students,
Today, I write to congratulate you for demanding equity at this world-class University.
On Tuesday night, by an overwhelming majority of 91.2%, the referendum to restructure the Student Government Association and the Graduate Student Government Association into equal and autonomous bodies, governed by and for their respective constituencies, passed.
On behalf of the entire Graduate Student Government Association, we look forward to building a more unified and tailored community for graduate students. We will work tirelessly with all eight graduate divisional councils over the next three months to implement a fair and equitable governance structure that empowers our respective divisions equally while giving graduate students the flexibility they need to have the best Emory experience possible.
With this new structure, we can now advocate more effectively for services that would directly benefit our graduate student population, such as on-campus childcare, better shuttle and transportation services, graduate student housing, grad-centered programming, optional student fees, and much more.
It has been a true honor to serve as your Graduate Student Government Association President and ensure that our voices are heard at every level of this University.
As always, feel free to contact GSGA@emory.edu with any questions or concerns.
Congratulations! We did it!
President, Graduate Student Government Association
