Wear Black This Friday
Sep 22, 2016 by Valerie Jefferies
BLUF: BLMBAO is encouraging everyone to wear black on Friday in response to recent acts of violence in the Black community and continued racial injustice in the country.
During this past week, two unarmed black men were shot and killed by police officers in Charlotte, NC and Tulsa, OK. Many students, faculty, and staff at Fuqua are saddened, confused, and frustrated by these and other tragic acts of violence in our country. While we may hold different views as a community, the impact of racial injustice affects everyone. We should challenge ourselves to be a part of the solution that supports equality for all.
In the spirit of Collective Diversity, the BLMBAO community is encouraging Fuqua students, staff, and administration to wear black on Friday, September 23 as an expression of empathy for the state of race relations in America and in solidarity with every member of the Fuqua community who is impacted.
We encourage each of you to ask questions and share your feelings about these recent events and others so that we can all continue to learn and grow in tolerance about issues of race. Dialogue and support from classmates and friends is invaluable as we all deal with complex emotions and thoughts.
At Fuqua Friday at 6pm, please join us to take a picture on the patio outside of the Fox Center to demonstrate the commitment we all have to Team Fuqua.
We look forward to your participation! Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
