The Polar Plunge presented by Doc's Cantina is one of the biggest Special Olympics fundraisers of the year. The Plane Pull involves teams of 20 vying to see who can pull a 210,000-pound UPS Boeing 757 cargo plane 12 feet in the shortest time. The Plane Pull provides a fun-filled day for participants and spectators alike. In addition to the action on the runway, the Family Fun Zone provides food, games, music and more for participants and spectators as they wait to take their turn on the rope or hang around for the post-event awards ceremony.

English Graduate Organization Spring Fundraiser

The fundraiser will kick off with the EGO book sale and end at the Graduate Program Luncheon.  Donations in the form of cash or check can be dropped off at the book sale in the Bingham foyer April 13-15 and in Bingham 315 April 18-22.  EGO will also be donating 10% of the book sale proceeds.

The donations will go to sponsor families for specific programming that FSH offers.  Here are a few examples:

Idea Festival - IF Kids - Wayfinding Assistant

Parkland Boys & Girls Club - CONECT Mentors

The UofL CONECT Mentors volunteered at the Parkland Boys and Girls Club working outdoors in the garden/orchard pulling weeds and harvesting vegetables. They also assembled picnic tables, which will be painted on Day of SOUL by other volunteers. A few volunteers created a college board for the teen room. From 4:00-5:00pm, they worked with children painting garden stones and speaking to older youth about the importance of college.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is engaging more mentors to meet the needs of children in our area who are waiting for a Big Brother or Sister. Big Brothers Big Sisters works to help more children achieve higher aspirations and greater confidence through one-to-one mentoring. Big Brothers Big Sisters currently has nearly 1,000 children matched with a ‘Big.’ There are, however, more than 400 children still on our waiting list.
