Friday, August 18th

Dean's Receptions* @ 2:00pm -- Various Locations

All first-year students and their families will be invited to join faculty and academic deans to celebrate the start of the academic year. View link to find specific locations.

New Student Convocation* @ 3:30pm -- MU Theatre

A formal ceremony welcoming all new students and their families to the Marian University community!

President's Reception* @ 4:45pm -- Alumni Hall

Immediately following convocation, all students and their families will parade from the Marian University Theatre to Alumni Hall for the university time-honored tradition of signing the Matriculation Book.

Residence Hall Meetings* @ 7:30pm -- Various Residence Halls

Meet your resident director, resident assistant, and other students living in your hall and on your floor. Get information on resources, policies, and other things you need to know while living on campus.

Commuter Connection* @ 7:30pm -- Alumni Hall, MU Bookstore

Meet other commuter students and get information about on-campus resources specific to commuter students.

Saturday, August 19th

FIRST Day of Service & Leadership* @ 8:30-4:00pm -- Meet at MU Theatre, Marian Hall

This is a Marian University tradition. Get to know and give back to the local community with your fellow students at one of several locations. In the afternoon, students come together for lunch and a leadership retreat led by faculty, staff, and other Marian University Knights.

Come early to select your top choice of service site. Wear comfortable clothing; long pants (recommended) and close-toed shoes (required). You will receive a Day of Leadership and Service t-shirt at check-in and will have time to change once you’ve checked in and chosen your service
site. Dress for the weather. We will serve regardless of the weather outside. Transportation, t-shirt, and lunch will be provided.

Blue & Gold Tailgate and Scrimmage @ 7:30pm -- St. Vincent Health Field

Come cheer on the Marian University Knights as they take the field in the Blue and Gold Scrimmage.

MU Night at Target @ 8-10pm -- Indy Glendale Target 

Zyn51gpt7kc2p2x 710Get ready to shop til you drop for last minute school and residence hall room supplies! Pizza, Raffle, Scavenger Hunt, Prizes, and Free Transportation! 

Shuttles will pick up outside of St. Vincent Health Field during the Football scrimmage between 8-9pm. Last bus will leave target to return to campus at 9:45pm. Feel free to carpool there as well!


Sunday, August 20th

India Day @ 10:00 am-2:30 pm -- Monument Circle, Downtown Indianapolis

The annual India Day will take place at Monument Circle. You will enjoy cultural performances (vocal, dances, instrumental, musical) from different parts of India, music from the east and the west, educational booths, ethnic food vendors, parade and Float. The India association of Indianapolis (IAI) is a nonprofit organization established in 1967. It is celebrating its 50th year in 2017. One of our missions is to showcase and share our rich Indian heritage and culture and foster cultural exchange and harmony between the people of India and the United States. We have been collaborating with Indianapolis Hyderabad sister city committee (IHSCC) over these past years to further enhance arts and culture in Indiana.

Started by Rachael's Family, Rachael’s First Week challenges young men and women to think about the choices they make, and always look out for each other, even strangers. The program encourages a change in culture from approaching college with risk-taking behaviors to one of fun using common sense and  caring for friends and strangers alike.

Student-Athlete Convocation @ 6:30pm -- MU Theatre, Marian Hall

If you are a student-athlete, you must attend this meeting.

Mass on the Grass @ 7:30pm -- Allen Whitehill Clowes Amphitheater

Bring a blanket. All are welcome regardless of faith tradition or ideology!

Following mass, enjoy some frozen treats with the Marian University commuity!

Be part of the Theatre Program's fall musical - Fiddler on the Roof

Want to be part of the Theatre Program's Fall Musical, Fiddler on the Roof, either on stage or backstage? REGISTER for THE 105 - Theatre Production! Class/rehearsals meet M/T/R 4:30-6:30 pm.

Deadline to enroll is 8/25/17. Auditions will take place at the second class meeting August 22. Performance dates are November 17-19.

Use this form to reserve a table at the annual Activities Fair.  The Activities Fair is a great opportunity to publicize your organization and events as well as recruit new members for your organization. This fall's Activities Fair will take place on Tuesday, August 29, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
