Junior Faculty Conversations On Teaching: (What) Are My Students Learning?
Looking ahead to our Excellence in Teaching Day conversation on “making learning visible,” we in the CTE have been thinking a lot about the formal and informal ways instructors seek to uncover what (and whether) their students are learning. In this month’s Junior Faculty Conversation, participants will have the chance to share their own challenges with gauging students’ learning and discuss strategies for more intentionally surfacing what their students are taking away from the classroom.
The Junior Faculty Conversations on Teaching are designed to provide faculty in their first years at BC an opportunity to reflect on their teaching in conversation with colleagues from across the university. These informal, lunchtime discussions are held throughout the academic year and focus on a different broad topic or question each month. Faculty are welcome to attend as few or as many of the lunches as they would like. The Spring 2019 sessions will occur on February 19, March 13, and April 1.
