Earth Day Every Day

Oct 20, 2016 by Jonathan Renard

The Office of Sustainability, Graduate Student Senate, OHIO Zero Waste Program, and International Student Union have joined together to create the Earth Day Every Day initiative. Earth Day Every Day is designed to help develop a more sustainable culture at Ohio University and expand the concepts of Earth Day beyond just a single day celebrated in April.

Earth Day Every Day is a collaborative effort aimed at encouraging all entities on campus to focus on sustainability-related programming and share their efforts through a streamlined calendar. Through collaborative marketing, organizations can increase campus-wide awareness of events while working to “green” campus programs.

Any Ohio University organization or department can learn about the steps to create a Green Event on campus by referring to the “Green Event Guide” as they plan their on-campus event. The OHIO Zero Waste Program also offers Green Event how-to training and consultations by contacting Events can then be submitted to the Earth Day Every Day calendar by emailing

Upcoming Earth Day Every Day events include:

  • Zero Waste Football Tailgates on October 15, November 3, and November 22 (time varies) at the tailgating area near Peden Arena, hosted by OHIO Zero Waste Program. Tailgate guilt-free when you recycle and compost your wasted materials.
  • CE3 Brownbag Lunch Series on October 21, November 4, and November 18 at 12:00 pm in The Ridges, Building 22, Room 221, hosted by the Consortium for Energy, Economics, and the Environment (CE3) and the Environmental Studies Program. This informal lunch presentation and Q&A related to environmental topics is open to all faculty, staff, students, and community members.
