The Leadership, Development and Innovation program helps students discover their strengths and leadership style, and build leadership skills and experience. The program is FREE to all currently enrolled QUT students.

Workshops, weekend intensives, retreats and programs run throughout the year, so check the events section of this LDI OrgSync portal regularly. Join this portal to see all the events and receive weekly news updates via email during semester. You can also join our discussion group on Facebook to keep up to date with events and leadership roles on offer at QUT.

LDI is a great way to meet likeminded QUT students, who are keen to develop personally, and work with others to make a positive difference at QUT and beyond. You can also attain an LDI Award, to add to your resume!

The LDI program is based on a Learn-Act-Lead model which encourages and provides you with opportunities to apply your learning to real-life scenarios. You obtain credit towards an LDI Award by engaging with our Learn sessions and gaining recognition through Act contributions and Lead positions.

The LDI Award matrix below shows the requirements for each LDI Award. Click here if you would like to learn more about LDI. If you are looking for more information on the validation process, click on the 'Files' tab to see the LDI Validation guides. Organisation Purpose/Developmental Aims

Please outline the primary purpose, mandate and goals of the organisation. Please also identify and describe the specific ways in which your organisation works toward student development.

Helping students to become the best version of themselves.

Learning Outcomes/Capabilities

Please briefly outline key learning outcomes/graduate capabilities that your organisation/program directly seeks to foster in student participants.

In the Leadership, Development & Innovation program, students endeavour to learn and pursue peak performance and personal excellence, organisational and community leadership, as well as social change. Participants attain competence in five core areas, which are Leadership Theory, Emotional Intelligence, Intercultural Intelligence & Interpersonal Skills, and last but not least, Uni-Craft, where students recognise how to maximise their University experience. The lessons are delivered in workshops hosted by experts in their field. The presenter promotes student interaction and collaboration by virtue of intellectual conversations and brain-storming sessions. The lessons are insightful and invaluable.

The Leadership, Development & Innovation program inspires students to act upon their aspirations for social change. Customarily, students gain leadership experience by volunteering for Student Chapters of Non-Governmental Organisations that are associated with the University. Ultimately, students have the liberty to chart their own leadership development path. Students are recognised and respected for their contribution to the QUT Campus Community and the broader community.

Students who exhibit exemplary leadership qualities are deemed well suited to leading fellow University students. These leaders generously share their knowledge and experience by means of delivering workshops. Moreover, leaders provide mentoring to individuals and student groups, in the endeavour of fostering their leadership potential.

The Leadership, Development and Innovation program awards students based on their level of engagement. The awards available are certificate of participation, graduate award, and distinction award, presented at the time of graduation.
