The purpose of the Northeastern University Italian Club is to create a network of past, present and future Italian members of the Northeastern Community. Current students can use this group as a platform for communication and the creation of future relations between individuals, with possible co-op programs and future job opportunities. Furthermore, this community will bridge the cultural gap that may develop in students coming from Italy or Italian families, to the NEU community. New students will be able to interact with peers who share their experience and culture, easing the transition by creating a familiar environment. NUIC could provide aid to the admissions office by acting as ambassadors to prospective students who wish to study in Italy. NUIC would not limit itself to the Northeastern grounds, but would additionally take part in the pre-existing intercollegiate Italian community – further developing the connections that members of the group can make use of. Finally, students preparing for an experience of study abroad, dialogues or co-op experiences in Italy can take advantage of the resources and knowledge provided by the members of the NUIC.
