Pool of success at Nationals Swimming
May 20, 2019 by Patrick Rebakis
ACU has returned from the inaugural Nationals Swimming championships with terrific results. Hosted at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, competition in the pool was fierce as the event attracted international talent. ACU finished 8th in Australia with a silver and a bronze medal.
Daniel Jacobson came away a silver in the Men's 1500m Freestyle and the Women's 4x100m freestyle relay team (Pictured L-R: Georgia Cloudsley, Elyse Woods, Lauren Koch and Madison Thompson) won bronze!
ACU Sport would like to thank the 12 swimmers and ACU coach David Proud on their incredible efforts. David reflected on the event, “Out of the 34 events on the programme there was 32 records broken so it’s really exciting to be a part of. The athletes were fantastic to work with and very professional in their preparation and feedback they gave after competing.”
The results from this event put ACU in a great position after finishing 13th in Nationals Athletics last month whilst leading into the multi-sport National events including Nationals Div 2 and Nationals Div 1 scheduled on the Gold Coast later this year.
