ACU Accelerates at Nationals Athletics

Apr 18, 2019 by Patrick Rebakis

ACU has finished the inaugural Nationals Athletics championship with some outstanding results. The event held in Sydney and hosted by UniSport Australia saw ACU come away with a gold and a bronze medal.

The first gold was won by Commonwealth Games athlete, Alex Hulley, in the hammerthrow. The National champion, Alex threw 63.63m to add a whopping two metres to the previous meet record!  While in the 1600m Men’s sprint medley relay, the team comprised of James Mizzi, Daniel Stowe, Hayden Shoobridge, and Lachlan Herd, took out the bronze (3:32.40).

We would like to congratulate our athletics team on coming 13th overall in the inaugural UniSport competition! It’s a huge achievement for ACU to be on the leader board amongst the other 42 universities in Australia. These fantastic results contribute to the overall UniSport ranking and carry ACU steadily into the next event, Nationals Swimming held in May.
