Student Engagement and Services, Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students, Learning and Teaching) are pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Folkes as the Head Coach of the ACU Sydney Rugby League Club for the 2017 NSW Tertiary Rugby League Season.

As a former Rugby League great, the players have the most incredible opportunity to learn from one of the best. Steve is a former New South Wales and Australian Rugby League Representative footballer, and played over 300 games for the Canterbury Bulldogs. Steve then went on to coach his former Club the Bulldogs for ten years from 1998 to 2008 in a period of great success, including an NRL Premiership title in 2004.

Kate Glassop, Manager of National Programs (Health, Sport and Wellbeing) is excited by the recent appointment. “Securing Steve to coach our side has provided Club members with an outstanding opportunity to learn on and off the field from one of the best in the business. Steve’s dedication, professionalism and knowledge has added enormous value to our students playing experience with the Club”.

The team trains on Wednesday nights from 7.00-8.30pm at Camperdown Park (Mallett Street, Camperdown) and plays in the NSW Tertiary Rugby League competition on Saturday afternoons at various locations across Sydney against other NSW Tertiary institutions, including Sydney University and the University of Technology.
