Two ACU Athletes recently received one of the highest accolades in Australia
North Sydney student Ms Emma Tonegato and Melbourne student Mr Mack Horton were each awarded the Medal of the Order of The Order of Australia (OAM) for their outstanding performances in Rio last year.
The Order of Australia is the principal and most prestigious means of recognising outstanding members of the community at a national level.
Emma who is currently studying the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy received her OAM at the Governors House in Sydney while Mack received his medal on Australia Day as part of the Victorian celebration of Australia Day honours.
2016 was a standout year for both Emma and Mack. Mack claimed gold in the 400m freestyle event and Emma was a part of a gold medal winning inaugural women’s Rugby 7’s team. Although both of these student athletes have reached the top of their sporting division early in their careers, they still continue strong with their studies.
The future looks bright for these stars Mack (21) and Emma (22) who each have gold medals in the cabinet and an OAM.
