St Patrick's v Aquinas Inter-campus Cup 2015
Nov 4, 2015 by Jason Slater
Students from Melbourne made the trip up to Ballarat to compete in the annual contest between the Melbourne and Ballarat campuses in what was to be another hard earned victory to add to the trophy cabinet for Melbourne.
Melbourne have dominated the competition since 2009 and continued the tradition by taking out the cup again despite the brilliant efforts of the much smaller Aquinas campus in what was a great day for the hundred students that competed. The event involves competition in mixed netball, women’s and men’s football followed by a social event.
The Marty Busch Reserve hosted this year with the netball court located directly next to the football oval creating a great atmosphere. Ballarat has been home to the event since 2009 and continues to be a great venue for the students.
Sports Club Administrator for the Ballarat campus, Jacob "Scones" Torpey, said the day was a great success for all involved.
“On a day when even the typical Ballarat weather couldn't be bothered showing up, a hundred members from the ACU community arrived at the Marty Busch Reserve for what was a day of fierce competition!”
“A few fallen soldiers early on, gave Ballarat an opening of which they politely left resulting in yet another win by Melbourne”.
Jason Slater, Sport Activity Officer for the Victorian campuses said “the day was a great way to cap off the year of sport we have had at ACU. It highlights the spirit of ACU, with the two campuses coming together to have a competitive but very enjoyable day of sport.“
